The next edition of the world’s toughest adventure race starts on June 15, 2025, while athletes can already apply on July 1, 2024.
After a record-breaking race in 2023, Red Bull X-Alps returns for 2025. The Athletes’ Application kicks off on July 1, 2024, and will run until August 31, 2024. So get ready, prepare your application and block your calendar – the dates are set!
Start date confirmed
The 2025 edition will officially kick off with the Prologue on June 12, 2025, and the Race Start on June 15, 2025, finishing exactly twelve days later, on June 27, in Zell am See, Austria.
The 2023 edition of Red Bull X-Alps was a record-breaking success. It was by far the fastest edition, with Chrigel Maurer reaching goal after covering more than 1,200 kilometers in an astonishing 6 days, 6 hours and one minute, and 17 of his rivals landing within 24 hours of the Swiss. More athletes than ever made it to goal, with 23 athletes making it to the finishing line in Zell am See, Austria. Another landmark was Austrian Eli Egger becoming the first female to make it to goal.
Ulrich Grill, race co-founder says: “We are thrilled to announce that the Red Bull X-Alps adventure race is returning in 2025. The race last year was a special occasion, and we hope to build on the success of the 2023 edition. We also want to invite any athletes who think they are strong enough in body and mind to apply for the world’s toughest adventure race.”
Route will be revealed on March 19
The Route, which contains some surprises each edition, will remain a closely guarded secret until it is revealed on March 19, 2025. That gives the athletes only three months to research the Route and prepare their minds and bodies for the ordeal. Applications are open for male and female athletes from all over the world on redbullxalps.com. Any prospective athletes must be strong endurance runners, mountaineers and world-class hike and fly athletes.
