The excitement for Red Bull X-Alps 2025 continues to build with the addition of three new Turnpoints, which are known for their rugged beauty and challenging outdoor sports landscapes: Schenna + Merano 2000 in Italy, St. Moritz in Switzerland, and Les 2 Alpes in France. These destinations are not just scenic—they are a true test of endurance and skill in mountaineering, paragliding, and climbing.
Schenna and Merano 2000: A test of endurance and skill
Located in the heart of South Tyrol, Schenna offers a terrain that transitions from gentle valley footpaths to steep Alpine climbs, making it a perfect stage for both hiking and high-altitude paragliding. The extensive trail network promises to test the athletes’ endurance with its varying elevations and challenging climbs. Merano 2000, just a stone's throw away, complements this with its high-elevation environment, where thin air and sharp ascents add another layer of difficulty to the race. It's an ideal location for showcasing the athletes' mountaineering prowess and their ability to adapt quickly from ground to air.
St. Moritz: High-elevation adventure
Generally known as a glamorous holiday hotspot, St. Moritz also boasts some of the most challenging outdoor sports terrains in the Swiss Alps. Its high-altitude trails and rugged landscapes make it a prime location for paragliding launches and demanding climbs. The unpredictable Alpine weather adds a strategic element to the race, requiring athletes to be adept in navigating swiftly changing conditions. St. Moritz’s reputation as a winter sports heaven also means that athletes might face remnants of snow even in summer, adding to the complexity of the race.
Les 2 Alpes: Versatility in the French Alps
As a new French destination partner in Red Bull X-Alps, Les 2 Alpes offers a mix of high-altitude slopes and diverse terrains that are perfect for both winter sports and summer mountain activities. The area reaches up to 3,600 high meters, presenting one of the highest skiable domains in France, which turns into a playground for mountain biking and trail running in the summer. The elevation changes and the technical nature of the trails will test the athletes’ climbing skills, endurance, and their ability to transition between different sports seamlessly.
Unique challenges
Each destination introduces unique challenges, testing the athletes' versatility, endurance, and strategic skills. These new Turnpoints will not only push the athletes to their limits but also showcase the spirit of adventure sports across some of Europe's most iconic mountainous terrains.
