Juraj
Koreň
Few athletes have a resume quite like Slovakia’s Juraj Koreň. He’s a climber and paraglider pilot who combines both passions to make bold climbing and flying combo projects. These include solo winter ascents of the north faces of the Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses with his flying gear. (He successfully flew from the Jorasses but the weather was not right for the others).
The son of a pilot, Juraj started flying as a child and qualified as soon as the law allowed. He competed in Red Bull X-Alps 2019, finishing mid-field and 300km from goal, but it was not good enough to qualify again. “My performance was not so good so I was really disappointed about myself. I made a lot of mistakes in the second half.”
