Athletes from outside the alpine regions don’t traditionally perform well at Red Bull X-Alps but Erlend Ukvitne has clocked some impressive air miles in the Alps and he has the potential to keep up with the lead athletes on the ground too.
In 2024 he flew a 190km FAI triangle out of Fiesch, Switzerland, a previous Turnpoint in the race. That’s impressive and it’s not the only 100km flight he’s done in the Alps. At the Dolomiti Super Fly, which attracts some of the top hike and fly athletes, he came 9th. At home he won the Norwegian vol bivouac challenge.
